Could Lib Dem plans to reorganise our local councils mean the end of fortnightly black bin collections?
The proposal supported by your local Lib Dem councillors is to merge Vale of White Horse, South Oxfordshire and West Berkshire Councils - all run by the Lib Dems.
West Berkshire Council is in poor financial health and local services have been cut in West Berkshire, with black bins now only collected once every three weeks (compared to every two weeks here).
If the Lib Dems get their way and we merge with West Berkshire, this could mean us seeing reduced bin collections here too meaning a worse deal for residents here. That's why we are opposing the plan.
When challenged on the proposals by Cllr Lee Evans (Conservative, Stanford ward), the Lib Dem leader of the Vale of White Horse Council said, "it will be for the new council to make decisions" about local services.
By proposing that we merge with a Council in poor financial health, our current Council leaderships are advocating for a path that could make those future decisions harder - and put local services at risk.
But we want to know what you think...
